Litton Kumer Das who was born on 13th October 1994 is a Bangladeshi cricketer and the vice-captain of Bangladesh National Test Cricket Team. He is a right-handed opening batsman and a test wicket-keeper.He made his international debut for Bangladesh in June 2015.

He has scored the highest individual score for Bangladesh in ODI cricket . He is the first batsman to score 1000 runs in 2022 and also the first keeper to score 800 runs in 2021-2023 World Test Championship. Let’s take a look at some of the most astonishing facts about him;

1.Litton Kumar Das was born in Dinajpur to a Bengali Hindu family

Litton Kumar Das was born in Dinajpur to a Bengali Hindu family. He followed a common route to become a cricketer in Bangladesh. He studied in BKSP and played for age level teams. Hailing from the northern district of Dinajpur, which is around 331km from capital Dhaka, Liton began his adolescent life as a young cricketer in BKSP.

He impressed one and all with his heavy run-scoring in school and age-group cricket. He was soon picked in Bangladesh’s Under-19 side in 2012, the usual route for any talented young cricketer from BKSP and soon enough, he scored heavily in Youth ODIs too. 

2.He made his first-class debut in October 2011

He made his first-class debut in October 2011 for Rangpur Division against Dhaka Division. He didn’t have a great first season, but fought back strongly in the following season registering a ton and a half-century.

His career was boosted after his performances in the 2014 U-19 World Cup held in Abu Dhabi, where he scored 239 runs in just four innings.He has since become one of the best to grace the game in Bangladesh and among the best in the world.

Post the heroics in the Under-19 tournament, Liton developed into a better player and that was evident in his domestic outings. He ended up as the second highest run-getter in the Dhaka Premier League and then amplified the performances in the longer format.

From second best in List A, Liton went onto top the run-charts in the National Cricket League playing for Rangpur Division. He struck five centuries and aggregated more than 1000 runs finishing the season with a mind-boggling average of 85.33.

He made his World Cup debut against the West Indies where he scored an unbeaten 94 runs and made an unbeaten 189-run partnership with Shakib Al Hasan which helped Bangladesh to a famous 7 wicket victory.

As of January 2022, he attained his career best test ranking of no 12 as a Test batsman of the world in the ICC Men’s Player Rankings which is the highest in the history of Bangladesh cricket.He scored 88, 141 and 52 in three innings which promoted him to the 12th position

He is the current vice captain of the Bangladesh National Crickets Team. In May 2022, after Bangladesh lost their 2-test match series against Sri Lanka by 1–0, the test captain Mominul Haque stepped down from the captaincy and on 2 June 2022.

The then vice captain Shakib Al Hasan succeeded him as captain while Das was made the Vice-captain of the test team. The announcement came two days after Mominul Haque decided to quit the Test captaincy following a lean batting streak that extended to seven straight single digit figures.

He has several achievements in his career including; Becoming the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a century at sylhet, Scored the partnership for Bangladesh in ODI with Tamim Iqbal both scoring 292 runs patnership. 

His other achievements include;Scoring 176 runs off 143 balls, this is the highest individual score by any Bangladeshi batsman in ODI, he also became player of the tournament against Zimbabwe.
