10 Best Boarding Schools in Mexico

There are three levels of education in Mexico: educación primaria (primary, or elementary education), educación media (junior high or middle school) and educación superior (high school and university level).

Educación media is divided into two levels. Lower education, commonly called secundaria, is a three-year program which is connected to primary education.

Upper education, known as educación media superior, or preparatoria, is a two or three-year program which is connected to institutions of higher education.

The combination of primary and lower secondary schools is part of the free, nine-year mandatory education program for Mexicans.

Mexico’s public schools are free but often overcrowded. That’s why many local families who can afford to do so will send their children to international or private schools, where class sizes are much smaller and teaching standards higher.

Mexican culture is about a strong attachment and affection between family members like few others in the world.

Aware of this situation, the country’s boarding schools maintain permanent communication with parents.

Some children live in boarding schools but they are allowed to keep up with their families whenever they want.

There are even several boarding schools that allow students to spend weekends with their parents. For the best boarding schools in Mexico here is a list.
