Free Admission to All State Museums as Rome Celebrates Liberation Day

The Festa Della Liberazione is around the corner as Rome and the whole of Italy celebrate the day that the country was freed from the Nazi occupation and the fascist regime in the Second World War. Rome marks this special day on April 25 each year, and this year’s celebration comes on Thursday.

To make Liberation Day this year more special, all the state museums in Rome will be open, and the public will utilize the facilities without incurring any costs. The state museums are governed by the Ministry of Culture, including the Capitoline Museums, where people can see Rome’s ancient sculptures, paintings, and archeological findings.

There is also the National Roman Museum, which has four different spots in the city, such as Palazzo Massimo, the Baths of Diocletian, and the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa. These are the places for anybody interested in deeply understanding the history of Rome.

Ordinarily, there is an entrance fee that visitors and residents pay before going to any of these museums. However, the liberation day comes with good news, as people will freely go to their favorite museums for free. The free opening happens during the usual opening hours.

As Wanted in Rome reports, the Italian culture minister Genaro Sangiuliano announced last year that there would be three free openings of the state museums in 2024, including April 25, June 2, and November 4. Anyone traveling to Rome or living in the city can take advantage of these three free museum openings.
