Lisbon’s Belem area becomes the playground for a beautiful cultural extravaganza on June 29th 2024. The Japanese Festival is back for its 11th edition, and its offerings are no less engaging. This grand event brings together a myriad of Japan’s cultural treasures to the city, all for celebration in one venue. The Jardim Vasco da Gama is the set destination for this year’s festival, and entry is free!

Food, lots of food

Cuisine has a way of effortlessly introducing different cultures to people. At the Japanese festival, food and drink are the two unmissable ingredients. There will be a Japan Food Corner, featuring a number of restaurants. Foodies can explore several delicacies, including takoyaki (fried dough balls dish), ramen, soba (noodles), onigiris (rice balls with fillings), just to mention a few. Japanese beer will also be available.

Free workshops

There will also be tents for workshops on different aspects of Japanese art. Attendees can explore haiku, a form of Japanese poetry style, calligraphy, taiko (drums), tea ceremonies, and kyudo (archery).  Participation in the activities is free.

Music, souvenirs…J-Pop & more

Is it really a festival without good music? And, is it really a Japanese festival without j-pop? Attendees are in for lots of pop music, and dressing up for the theme and vibe is highly advised. Souvenirs will also be in plenty for memories sake. From art pieces, to anime creations, finding a keepsake will be part of the experience.

The event will take place from 10 am to 10 pm.
