Amsterdam is gearing up for a musical extravaganza as Taylor Swift, one of the world’s biggest pop stars, prepares to take the stage at the Johan Cruijff ArenA for three consecutive nights starting Thursday, July 4th, 2024. The 34-year-old singer, who last performed in the Netherlands over nine years ago, is expected to draw a massive crowd of around 55,000 fans each night.
The highly anticipated shows are the 110th stop on Swift’s acclaimed Eras Tour, which has already grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. The tour showcases the singer’s extensive discography, from her early country roots to recent pop masterpieces like “Midnights” and “The Tortured Poets Department”.
To accommodate the influx of Swifties, public transport in Amsterdam is making extra stops, with NS trains adding a station at the ArenA and the GVB running three additional metros. A shuttle bus service from Oldenzaal in Twente will also be available for fans.
The excitement about the concerts has drawn fans from across the Netherlands and even neighbouring countries like Belgium, where Swift is not scheduled to perform. Flixbus has reported increased bookings from Brussels to Amsterdam during the concert days.
While the city is eager to welcome the pop sensation, authorities have issued a stern warning to fans: camping outside the ArenA for the best spots near the stage is strictly prohibited. The stadium roof will be closed during the performances, and even attempting to fly a drone over the venue will be futile, as the sound and visuals will not be audible or visible from outside.
