Recognized as Anthony Stanislas Radziwill, he was an American television executive and filmmaker. Anthony was also a professional journalist and made significant contributions to the news and entertainment industry.

Besides having made a name for himself in his own right, he was born into a world of privilege. He is a member of the noble Radziwills of Eastern Europe and had ties to the Kennedy family. Yes, that Kennedy family.

1. He Was Born in Switzerland

Anthony Radziwill was born on 4th August 1959 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was born into royalty and a life of privilege.

Anthony is the son of the Stanislaw Albrecht Radziwiłł and Lee Radziwill. Stanislaw was a Polish nobleman, a prince, as a scion of the infamous House of Radziwill.

Lee, his mother, was an American socialite, public-relations executive, and interior decorator. She was married to Stanislaw and her full name was Caroline Lee Bouvier (called Princess Lee Radziwill).

2. He Studied at Boston University

Radziwill attended Millfield School as a young boy. Millfield is a public school in Somerset, England where his parents lived at the time. He then attended Choate Rosemary Hall, a preparatory school in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Later, he joined Boston University. He graduated in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. Broadcast journalism is the field of news and journals which are broadcast by electronic methods.

Anthony Radziwill’s mother, Princess Lee Radziwill, was the younger sister of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Jacquelin Bouvier, his aunt, was married to the 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald “Jack” Kennedy.

This, therefore, made JFK Anthony Radziwill’s uncle. He was very close to JFK’s son, John F. Kennedy Jr. In fact, the two were best friends. On September 21st, 1996, JFK Jr. wed Carolyn Bessette and Anthony was his best man for the ceremony.

4. Married to Carole Di Falco

In 1989, Antony joined ABC News as a television producer for Primetime Live. It was while he was at ABC that he met his wife to be Carole DiFalco.

Carol and Antony Radziwill met while they were covering a murder case at ABC. The murder case in question was the famous Menendez brothers’ murder in Beverly Hills.

On 27th August 1994, Radziwill and her ABC news producer, Anthony Radziwill, wed. The wedding ceremony was held in East Hampton, New York. The couple lived in New York City.

5. He Was an Avid Award Winner

Not only was Anthony Radziwill love what he did, but he was also very good at it. This was evidenced by the many highly regarded awards he picked up throughout his career.

Radziwill kicked off his career at NBC sports after graduating from Boston University. His role at the time was associate producer. He was part of ABC’s team that covered the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ABC team covering this event was nominated for an Emmy Award which they won.

After joining ABC News in 1989, Radziwill was nominated and subsequently won a Peabody Award. The award was for his work on an investigation carried out on the resurgence of Nazism in the United States of America.

Antony also produced a work of body titled ‘Cancer: Evolution to Revolution. Albeit posthumously, the work was nominated for two Emmys and a Peabody going on to win the Peabody.

6. He Was Diagnosed with Testicular Cancer

At around the time, he joined ABC News, in 1989, Radziwill was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He started treatment immediately afterward which left him in apparent remission. Remission refers to either the reduction or total eradication of the signs and symptoms of a disease.

However, in a rather cruel turn of events, the treatment left him sterile. A few years later, shortly before his wedding, new tumors emerged.

What followed was years of Radziwill battling metastasizing cancer throughout the remaining years of his life. His loving wife Carole Radziwill was his primary caretaker as they both tried to manage and maintain their careers while managing the disease.

7. Anthony Radziwill Died In 1999

Due to metastasizing cancer, Radziwill went through a succession of experimental treatments, operations, hospitals, and oncologists. This was all with the help and care of his wife.

However, On August 10th, 1999, Anthony Radziwill sadly passed away as a result of cancer. This was only a week after his 40th Birthday.

His death also came three weeks following the fatal plane crash that took the lives of JFK Jr., his wife Carolyn, and his sister Lauren Bessette. Antony Radziwill was succeeded by his wife, Carole DiFalco, his sister Tina, and his mother, Princess Lee Radziwill.

8. Left Behind a Long-lasting Legacy

In 2000, roughly a year after his death, a fund was set up in his name to help up-and-coming documentary filmmakers. The fund was set up by Princess Lee Radziwill (his mother) and Carole Radziwill (his widow).

In the year 2005, Carole Radziwill wrote and published the autobiography: What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship and Love. It provides deep and intimate insight into her marriage to Radziwill. The Autobiography was published by Scribner and went on to make The New York Times Best Seller List.

9. He Worked for Time Warner’s Home Box Office

In 1997, Antony Radziwill became the vice president of documentaries at Time Warner’s Home Box Office. At this post, he produced several documentaries including some on alcoholism, heroin use, and even domestic violence.

It was at this post that Radziwill picked up his third Emmy award as well as an Academy Award nomination.

10. He Was Herbert Ross’ Stepson

Herbert David Ross was an American actor, producer, and choreographer who worked almost exclusively in theater and film. In September 1988, Herbert Ross married Anthony Radziwill’s mother Lee Radziwill.

This made Anthony Herbert’s stepson. His marriage to Lee, however, only lasted up until 2001 when they divorced.
