Lili Reinhart Comes Out As Bisexual: A Look at Her Journey

Lili Pauline Reinhart came out as bisexual in 2020 during the ‘Black Lives Matter movement in the United States of America following the killing of George Floyd by the police. The actress, born in September 1996 rose to fame after starring in the drama series Riverdale. She attracted a huge fan base across the world both on social media and in person.

Being young, rich, and famous made Reinhart a media target as people inquired about her personal life. However, she had lived a private life and her childhood did not show any signs of being a bisexual girl. She has revealed in a recent interview with Flaunt magazine and on social media about her sexuality.

Lili Reinhart posted on Instagram in 2020 to let the world know that she is a bisexual woman. “Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman,” she wrote on her Instagram account. She was happy to finally come out of the closet after several years of knowing that she was bisexual.

She also announced joining the LGBTQ+ community during the ‘Black Lives Matter protests as she asked her fans to join her in the fight against racism in America and the world.

Despite coming out in 2020, Lili Reinhart says that she had known about her sexuality from childhood. “I knew full well that I was attracted to women from a young age, I felt that since I’ve exclusively been in hetero-normative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to get attention,” she said in the interview.

According to her, the decision to stay private about her sexuality was purely to avoid being judged by the media and the public.

However, Reinhart did not keep her bisexuality from people close to her. “That’s not something I wanted to deal with. But to my close friends, and those in my life, my bisexuality has been no secret,” she said in the interview. She says that her family members knew about her sexuality and they offered support and love.

The Riverdale star has been in relationships with both men and women and her recent relationship before coming out was with her co-star Cole Sprouse. The two have had two different dating spells, while the second one ending in 2020 during the coronavirus lockdown. Reinhart was deeply in love with her cowboy boyfriend before the pandemic ruined their love journey.

Reinhart said in the interview that she felt the need to help the minority groups in the country including the black community and the LGBTQ+ community. “I felt that I wasn’t doing enough. And I felt that it was lame to keep reposting what everyone else is posting so I asked myself: ‘Okay, what do I have to offer? she said in the interview.

She began making posts about the ‘Black Lives Matter movement and eventually got the courage to open up about her sexuality. She felt happy and liberated after coming out as she received several messages supporting her and praising her for her courage.
