Mia Hamm is one of the most recognizable figures in women football today. She boasts of a rich resume having won the FIFA World Cup twice, and,  two gold medals at the Olympics, among other accolades in her soccer career. The full name of Mia Hamm is Mia Hamm (née Hammel). The now retired player traces her birth place to Selma, Alabama, on March 17, 1972. Her love for the beautiful game started when she was aged 6, and, was quickly identified as one of the game’s most gifted players. During her initial stages, Hamm played for the Tar Heels while a student at North Carolina University. She won the Hermann Trophy twice and the NCAA championship twice. Hamm played professionally for the Washington Freedom and the LA Sol after graduating from college.
