Death is always tragic, but losing loved ones to suicide is an emotionally devastating experience. Suicide is a phenomenon that affects the young, old, poor, and rich and is mostly perceived negatively. When famous people commit suicide, not only the family is involved but the world is left in shock because celebrities are perceived to have a perfect life, filled with the adoration of fans. Like any other people, famous people experience disappointments, stress, depression, financial struggles, unhappiness, and pain apart from the good life they show to the public.

The most popular goal of getting rich and famous is not always the best goal because even with all this, you can be subjected to an uncertain situation that can lead to suicide. Becoming famous has its benefit and disadvantages. The disadvantages, such as cyberbullying, racism, sexual assaults, and financial issues, can sink one into depression, contributing to suicide.

1. Robin Williams

A great American comedian and actor, Williams was widely recognized for the variety of characters he created and portrayed in films, comedies, and dramas. Williams is regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time, having won various awards throughout his career, including five Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. In 2009 he started having a health problem and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Later his wife disclosed he had a spike in anxiety, stress, insomnia, memory loss, paranoia, and delusions. Unfortunately, on August 11, 2014, he was founded dead in his home in Paradise Cay, California. An autopsy report concluded his death was suicide by hanging.

2. Stuart Adamson

William Adamson was a Scottish rock guitarist and singer who started his music career as a founding member of the punk rock band Skids. One of his successful singles was Into the Valley, which reached 10 on the UK Singles Chart. On December 16, 2001, Adamson was found dead in a hotel room. His death was caused by hanging with an electric cord from a pole in a wardrobe. By the time of his death, a very substantial amount of alcohol was found by Coroner’s Office report at the time of his death.

3. John McAfee

John McAfee was a British-American businessman and computer programmer who wrote the first commercial anti-virus software. He was also a two-time presidential candidate who unsuccessfully sought the Libertarian Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020. In 2020 he was arrested on charges of tax evasion for over a four-year period. On June 23, 2021, he was found dead in his prison cell due to suicide by hanging shortly after the Spanish National Court authorized his extradition to the U.S.

4. Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe was an American singer, actress, and model who became a popular sex symbol in the 1950s and early 1960s. She remains a significant pop culture icon, and in 1999, the American Film Institute ranked her sixth on their list of the greatest female screen legends from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Monroe was found dead in her home in Los Angeles, California, on August 5, 1962. Her death was caused by an overdose of barbiturates (a drug used to treat anxiety and sleep disorders). Her death was perceived as suicide because she had a history of depression and had attempted suicide several times in the past.

5. Malik Bendjelloul

He was a famous Swedish documentary filmmaker, former child actor, and journalist. Malik is recognized for directing the 2012 documentary Searching for Sugar Man which won an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award. After a long battle with depression, on May 13, 2014, he committed suicide by throwing himself in front of an oncoming train at the Solna Centrum metro station in Stockholm.

6. Sean O’Haire

Sean Christopher Haire was an American professional wrestler, kickboxer, and martial artist. In 2006, he retired from professional boxing, competed in mixed martial arts and kickboxing, and later became a hairstylist. On September 9, 2014, he was found dead, hanging from a bedpost in his bedroom in Spartanburg, South California. Before his death, Haire had battled years of depression and substance addiction.

7. Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen was a British couturier and fashion designer. In 1992, he founded his own Alexander McQueen label and, from 1996 to 2001, was chief designer at Givenchy. His fashion career awarded him four British Designer of the Year awards and CDFA’s International Designer of the Year award in 2003. Shortly after his mother’s death, he was found hanging dead at his home in Green Street, London W1, and a note was found near his body. His death was ruled out as suicide, with a report showing there was cocaine, tranquilizers, and sleeping pills in the blood samples which were taken after his death.

8. Herman Brood

Herman Brood was a Dutch musician, actor, poet, and painter. For his music career, he achieved fame and great success in the 70s and 80s and was referred to as the greatest and only Dutch rock ‘n’ roll star. He later embarked on a successful career as a painter. Herman had a drug problem, but he tried to abstain. On July 11, 2011, he committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel because he was depressed by the failure of his drug rehabilitation program and facing serious medical problems. Herman left a note, stating, “Party on. I’ll be seeing you.”

9. Caroline Flack

Caroline Flack was an English television presenter and actress. Her career was a success, and in 2014 she won the twelfth series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She presented ITV’s Love Island from 2015 to 2019. On February 15, 2020, she was found dead in her flat in Stoke, Newington, London. Her death was a suicide by hanging.

Born as Tim Bergling, he was a Swedish DJ, music producer, and remixer who rose to fame in 2011 for his single Levels. His debut album True in 2013 had the lead single Wake Me Up, which topped most in Europe and reached number four in the United States. In January 2012, Avicii was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis caused by excessive alcohol use, and his health continued to worsen, forcing him to retire from tours in 2016. On April 20, 2018, he died in Muscat; later, it was reported he committed suicide using a glass shard to cut himself.

11. Homaro Cantu

Homaro Cantu was an American chef and inventor of molecular gastronomy. He explored his unusual ideas about cooking, such as carbonated fruit, edible menus, and food cooked with a laser receiving a Michelin star in 2012 and critical praise. He was a media personality, appearing on TV shows, and he produced and co-hosted a show called Future Food in 2010. On April 14, 2015, he committed suicide by hanging inside a building he was renovating.

12. Alan Garcia

Alan Garcia was a Peruvian politician who served as President of Peru from 1985 to 1990 and 2006 to 2011. At the Peruvian Aprista Party, he was the second leader and, up to date, the only party member to have served as President. He shot himself in the head on April 17, 2019, as he was been presented with a ten-day preliminary arrest warrant related to an investigation for corruption and bribes allegedly received from Odebrecht.

Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti, known professionally as Dalida, was born in Egypt in 1933 and was an Italian-French singer and actress. She began her music career at 17 and had a successful music and acting career. Dalida could sing eleven languages and sold millions of records internationally, with her music charting in many North American, Asia, Europe, and Latin America countries. Her partner committed suicide, and this deeply disturbed her suffering bouts of depression leading to her suicide. On May 3, 1987, Dalida committed suicide by overdosing on barbiturates.

14. Mark Salling

Mark sailing was born in 1982 in Dallas, Texas, and was an American actor and musician best known for his role as Noah “Puck” Puckerman on the television series Glee. He was arrested in 2015 for possessing child pornography, and in 2017 he pleaded guilty. Before the sentencing hearing of his case, mark died of suicide by hanging on January 30, 2018.

15. David Foster Wallace

He was an American novelist, essayist, short story writer, and university professor of English and creative writing. He is best known for his 1996 novel Infinite Jest which was cited as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005 by Time Magazine. Wallace had suffered from major depressive disorder for many years, but antidepressant medication allowed him to be productive. Unfortunately, on September 12, 2008, he committed suicide by hanging on the back porch of his house in Claremont, California. He had written a private two-page suicide note to his wife and arranged part of the manuscript for The Pale King.

16. Junior Seau

Junior Seau was an American footballer who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL), mostly with the San Diego Chargers. He was widely known for his passionate play, was named to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team, and in 2015 inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame 2015. On May 2, 2012, he was found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest at his home in Oceanside, California. His death was ruled out as suicide.

17. Chelsie Kryst

Chelsie was known for her beauty pageant titleholder, who was crowned Miss USA 2019. She was an American attorney, model and television correspondent. As a correspondent, she served for Extra from October 2019. On January 30, 2022, she jumped to her death from the 350 West 42nd Street apartment in Midtown Manhattan, where she resided. Later, her mother released a statement stating Krysr had high-functioning depression.

18. Sophie Gradon

Sophie Gradon was an English model. She won Miss Newcastle in 2008, Miss Great Britain in 2009, and 2016, she was a contestant on the second series of ITV2’s Love Island. On June 20, 2018, Gradon died at her parents’ house in Medburn. It was later revealed her death was suicide by hanging.

19. Capital Steez

Capital Steez was an American rapper and songwriter. He was a founding member of the Brooklyn-based rap collective Pro Era with his childhood friend. He was also co-founder of the Beast Coast movement, which consists of three main groups based in Flatbush; Pro Era, The Underachievers, and Flatbush Zombies. On December 23, 2012, he died by suicide after jumping from the roof of the Cinematic Music Group Headquarters in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.

Lawrence Lamond Phillips was an American footballer running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons. His career was cut short by legal troubles and inconsistent performances. He was serving a 31-year sentence on assault convictions when he was charged in 2015 for murdering his cellmate. He committed suicide in solitary confinement while awaiting trial.

21. Joost Zwagerman

He was born on November 18, 1963, in Alkmaar, Netherlands. Joost was a Dutch writer, essayist, and poet. One of his teachers was the Dutch novelist Olek de Jong. On September 8, 2015, he was found dead at his home in Haarlem, de Volkskrant confirmed that Zwagerman had committed suicide.

Neal Casal rose to prominence as lead guitar with Rickey Medlocke’s Blackfoot from 1988 to 1993. He played in groups such as Hard-Working Americans, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, The Skiffle Players, and Beachwood Sparks. He was also a singer, songwriter, and photographer who released his final solo album, Sweeten the Distance, in 2011. On August 26, 2019, Casal died by suicide.

23. Dave Duerson

Dave Duerson was an American professional footballer who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons, mainly with the Chicago Bears. He also played for the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals winning Super Bowl XXV with the former. On February 12, 2011, he was found dead in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. He left a note requesting his brain be used for research; it was found he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) as a result of the concussions he had during his playing career.

24. Volker Eckert

Born in 1959, Eckert was a German serial killer who, between 1974 and 2006, killed six women in East Germany, Spain, and France. He only confessed to six murders and was accused of committing additional murders of women in several European countries, including the Czech Republic and Italy. While awaiting trial, Eckert committed suicide on July 2, 2007, and was found dead in his cell in Bayreuth, Bavaria.

Jamir Garcia was a Filipino musician who was known as the main vocalist of the nu-metal band, Slapshock. Through the band, he gained great fame and commercial success. On 7, 2008, Slapshock performed at the Dubai Desert Rock Festival with internationally acclaimed bands such as Marky Ramone, Machine Head, Velvet Revolver, Korn, and Muse. Garcia died of committing suicide by hanging in Quezon City on November 26, 2020.

26. Jean-Luc Godard

Jean was a French-Swiss film director who was influential in the post-war era, a film critic and screenwriter who gained fame as a pioneer of the French New Wave film movement of the 1906s. Some of his acclaimed films include Band of Outsiders in 1964, Alphaville in 1965, and Goodbye to Language in 2014. On September 13, 2022, at the age of 91, he died at his home in Rolle, and his death was reported as an assisted suicide procedure which is legal in Switzerland.

27. Blake Hounshell

Blake Hounshell was an American journalist and editor who worked for The New York Times, Foreign Policy, and Politico. In 2011 he was a finalist for the Livingston Award, and same year Time magazine identified him as operator one of the best Twitter accounts. After a long battle with depression, he died by suicide on January 10, 2023, with the police finding his body near the Taft Bridge.

Hideki Irabu was a Japanese professional baseball player of Japanese and American ancestry. He played both in Japan and the United States. He played for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB), Lotte Orions/ Chiba Lottes Marines, the New York Yankees, and Montreal Expos. On July 27, 2011, he was found dead in his home in Los Angeles. He was reported to have committed suicide by hanging, and his autopsy showed he was intoxicated with both alcohol and Ativan in his system.

29. Arnie Lerma

Arnie Lerma was an American writer and activist, a former Scientologist and critic of Scientology who appeared in television, media and radio interviews. He was the first person to post the court document known as the Fishman Affidavit, and he had a successful career. Unfortunately, on March 16, 2018, he died of suicide by gunshot at his home in Sylvania, Georgia, after shooting his wife, who survived.

30. Sean Malone

She worked in companies such as World Wonder Ring Stardom from 2016 to 2020 and appeared in foreign companies such as Pro-Wrestling: EVE and Ring of Honor. Her fame rose high as a cast member on the Fuji Television and Netflix reality television series Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020. Following a series of online bullying, she posted self-harm images on Instagram and Twitter while sharing some of the hate comments she received. Later that day, on May 23, 2020, she was found dead in her apartment in Tokyo, and on December 2020, her death was ruled a suicide.

Don was an American television show host and producer known as the creator and host of the music show Soul Train. In 2008 he sold the show to MadVision Entertainment. Through the show, he helped to launch the career of many R&B and soul artists. On February 1, 2012, he was found dead in his home in Los Angeles with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Mike Thalassitis was a British footballer and television personality who appeared on the third ITV2 reality series Love Island and the E4 dating series Celebs Go Dating. Phillip Adams was an American footballer cornerback. During his college days, he played college football for the South Carolina State Bulldogs and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Adams played for the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Oakland Raiders. Adams suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy; on April 7, 2021, he shot six people at a house in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and on April 8, 2021, Adams shot himself during a standoff with the police.

42. Stephanie Adams

She was an American model and author. She rose to prominence in 1992 in Playboy magazine while modeling for Wilhelmina Models. As a model, she also appeared in photo shoots for Venus Swimwear, Seventeen magazine, and commercial advertisements for Clairol. In 2004, she published an Empress novel featuring women in ancient Rome. She killed herself and her seven-year-old son in a murder-suicide on May 18, 2018. Adams pushed her son out of a 25th-story balcony before jumping herself.

Ekaterina and Harley Windsor began skating together, winning the 2017 CS Tallinn Trophy champion, the 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy bronze medalist, and the two-time Australian national champion. On July 18, 2020, she died after jumping out of the 6th-floor window of her Moscow home in a suspected suicide.

His actual name was Goncalo Jose Valada Amorim, a Portuguese cyclist. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, he competed in the men’s individual road race. He killed himself with a shotgun in his home in 2012.

45. John Atchison

John Atchison was an American assistant U.S. Attorney in Florida’s northern district, a volunteer coach for girls’ softball and basketball teams, and a youth sports association president. He was arrested on suspicion of soliciting sex with a 5-year-old girl and was charged with luring minors to engage in sexual activity using the internet. Three weeks after the charges, he committed suicide by hanging himself in his prison cell in Milan, Michigan.

She began ski jumping at the age of 16 in Eisenerz; she would also participate in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup and the Nordic Combined Alpine. Bassani was named to the Austrian national team for the 2020 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Oberwiesenthal. On May 5, 2020, he committed suicide at the age of 18.

Jovan Belcher was an American football linebacker who played with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). His most productive season was in 2011, when he had 61 tackles and 26 assists. On December 1, 2012, he was found dead in a murder-suicide, killing his girlfriend. He drove to the Chief’s training facility and shot himself in the head with a handgun.

Chris Benoit was a Canadian professional wrestler with a wrestling career spanning 22 years. He worked for several pro-wrestling promotions such as World Wrestling Federation/ World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF/WWE), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), Stampede Wrestling in Canada, World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in Japan. He held 30 championships between ECW, WWF/WWE, NJPW, WCW, and Stampede and was a two-time world champion.

Chris had a long battle with depression, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) caused by concussions he sustained during his wrestling led to him committing suicide. In a three-day double murder and suicide, he murdered his wife on June 22, 2007, murdered his 7-year-old son on June 23, 2007, and committed suicide on June 24, 2007.

49. David Berman

David Berman was an American musician, singer, and poet who founded the indie rock band, Silver Jews. He wrote lyrics for Silver Jews and developed the simple country-rock sound that characterized their early lo-fi recordings. In 1999, his only published volume of poetry, Actual Air, appeared by which time heroin and crack cocaine addictions loomed large. Berman struggled with substance abuse, anxiety, and depression, which overcame his career, and in 2003 he attempted suicide. In August 2019, he died by suicide.

Scoot has a successful fashion designer career styling celebrities like Julia Roberts and Madonna. She committed suicide on March 17, 2014, after a long period of battling depression. She was found dead in her apartment.

56. Jo Min-ki

Jo was a South Korean actor best known for his roles in the television series Flames of Desire, Queen Seondeok and East of Eden. Since 2010, he was an assistant professor at Cheongju University and has published two books. In 2018, he was accused of sexually harassing his students, to which he admitted and apologized. However, few days after turning to the police for an investigation, he was found dead of suicide by hanging on March 9, 2018, in underground parking near his home.

57. Greg Johnson

Greg Johnson was a professional ice hockey player in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Chicago Blackhawks. His best hockey season was 1998-1999, with 16 goals and 34 assists. On July 7, 2019, he was found dead in the basement of their Detroit home. The cause of death was concluded as suicide by firearm.

58. Antonie Kamerling

Born in 1996 in Arnhem, Netherlands, Kamerling was a Dutch actor and musician. As an actor, he was a member of the original cast of the Dutch soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tjiden. He also became the voice of Geoff from Total Drama in the Dutch version of the series. He committed suicide on October 6, 2010.

59. Kim Ji-hoon

Ji-hoon was a South Korean singer best known as the lead singer of Two Two and leader and lead singer of Duke, another Korean pop group. Some of the single hits he produced while at the group include One and a Half and Starian. He was found dead on December 12, 2013, after hanging himself in his hotel room.

60. John Kivela

John Kivela was an American politician who served as a Michigan House of Representatives member from 2013 until 2017. He also served as mayor of Marquette, Michigan, from 2008 until 2012. Kivela had a lifelong drinking problem, and he committed suicide by hanging on May 9, 2017.

61. Jak Knight

Born as Jakim Maulana in Seattle, Washington, he was an American actor, writer, and comedian. He was widely known for his roles as DeVon in the animated Netflix sitcom Big Mouth and as Jak in the Peacock comedy series Bust Down. Knight was found dead on an embankment in Los Angeles, California; on July 14, 2022, he committed suicide by gunshot.

Michael was an American financier, ex-Wall Street trader, lawyer, and Millionaire. Michael was tried for arson and insurance fraud for setting his home on fire. On June 28, 2021, the jury found him guilty, and he immediately committed suicide in the court by Cyanide ingestion.

Katie Meyer was an American soccer player who played as a goalkeeper for Stanford University’s Women’s soccer team. On March 1, 2022, she committed suicide and was found dead in her dorm.

On June 23, 2010, he committed suicide by jumping from his apartment window. He was depressed after breaking up with his girlfriend.

69. Mita Noor

Mita Noor was a Bangladeshi actress who had a long history of depression. On July 1, 2013, she was found dead after committing suicide by hanging at her home in Gulshan, Dhaka.

70. Qiao Renliang

Qiao was a Chinese singer and actor. He participated in the second season of My Hero and finished as the runner-up for the 2007 season. In 2008, he released his first EP (Extended Play), which ranked top ten on the China Album Sales Chart. He also starred in numerous television series and movies and was chosen to sing the theme song of Windows 7 in the Asia-Pacific Region. He was battling depression, which caused him to commit suicide on September 16, 2016, and was found dead in his apartment.

71. Brian Bianchini

Brian was an American male model and occasional actor born and raised in San Francisco to Italian parents. His modeling career was hugely successful, and he was photographed by the world’s most-known photographers like David LaChapelle, Steven Klein, and Bruce Weber. He did campaigns for Versace, Reebok, and Abercrombie & Fitch. Brian was featured in magazines like Playgirl and Vanity Fair and cover articles for Instinct and TV Guide. He struggled with depression, and in March 2004, he committed suicide by hanging.

73. Miguel Blesa

Miguel Blesa was a Spanish banker and the Spanish bank Caja Madrid chairman from 1996 to 2009. Blesa received a Golden Medal from the Real Academia de la Historia and was awarded as Mejor Presidente de Entidad Financiera 2005 by Banca 15. He was sentenced to a six-year jail term in February 2017 concerning company credit cards during his tenure as chairman of Caja Madrid. Still, he remained at liberty, awaiting the outcome of an appeal to the Supreme Court. On July 19, 2017, he committed suicide by a shotgun wound to the chest and was found on a private hunting estate.

Boss was an American freestyle hip-hop dancer, television producer, television personality, and actor. He finished in second place on the American version of So You Think You Can Dance in 2008. From 2014 to May 2022, Boss was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a repeated guest host and co-executive producer of the program. On December 13, 2022, he committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

75. Jurgen Brummer

Jurgen Brummer was a German gymnast and physical therapist. He competed at the 1987 and 1989 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, competitor at the European Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 1987, and in 1988 competed for West Germany at the Summer Olympics in Seoul. He won nine German Championship titles. On February 25, 2014, he died of suicide by jumping at the Koersch Viaduct.

Chris Cornell was an American singer and musician. He was known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, primary lyricist and songwriter for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He had a solo career and contributed to numerous movie soundtracks. Cornell was also the founder and frontman of Temple of the Dog, a one-off tribute band dedicated to his late friend Andrew Wood. On May 18, 2017, he died by suicide by hanging at MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan.

77. Jill Janus

Jill Janus was an American singer who was the lead vocalist of heavy metal bands Huntress, Chelsea Girls and The Starbreakers. She began her music career as a topless disc jockey under the name Penelope Tuesdae and had a successful career. She died by suicide near Portland, Oregon, on August 14, 2018.

78. Keith Flint

Keith Flint was an English singer born in Redbridge, London, who began his music career in the 1990s. He was one of the vocalists of the electronic dance act The Prodigy, where he started as a dancer and performed on the group’s two UK number-one singles, Breathe and Firestarters released in 1996. Flint also started his band, Flint, and was the lead singer. Additionally, he loved racing and owned a motorcycle racing team, Team Traction Control, which won four Isle of Man TT races in 2015 and 2016. On March 4, 2019, he died from suicide by hanging at his home in North End, Essex, England.

79. Kelly Catlin

Kelly was an American professional racing cyclist who rode for UCI Women’s Team Human Powered Health. She won gold medals in the women’s team pursuit at the 2016, 2017, and 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Catlin won a silver medal in the same event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Following an episode of depression, she died on March 7, 2019, and according to her sister, Catlin committed suicide months after suffering a concussion due to a cycling accident.

80. Jeff Alm

Jeff Alm was an American football defensive tackle for the Houston Oilers of the National Football League (NFL). While in college, he was selected by Houston in the second round of the 1990 NFL Draft. Alm played four seasons with the Oilers until 1993. On December 13, 1993, he committed suicide with a self-inflicted headshot after he caused a car crash and realized his friend who was with him in the car had died.

81. Gia Allemand

American actress, reality television contestant, and model Gia Allemand was best known for appearing in Maxim and competing on two ABC reality shows, The Bachelor: On the Wings of love and Bachelor pad. Two days before her death, she attempted suicide, and eventually, on August 14, 2013, she died by hanging herself.

82. Bill Zeller

Bill Zeller was an American computer programmer best known for creating the MyTunes application. MyTunes is an enhancement to Apple’s iTunes software, enabling users to copy music between computers on a local network. Following depression over being sexually abused as a young child, in 2011, he died due to oxygen deprivation due to hanging, which led to brain damage.

83. Yasmine

Born as Hilde Rens, she was a Belgian singer, television personality, and presenter. She began her singing in the 1980s, making her television debut in 1989 as a contestant on a Flemish television talent show which engineered her career. In 2006, she released her last album, Licht Ontvlambaar. In 1996, she came out as a lesbian and married television personality Marianne Dupon. Unfortunately, they divorced in April 2009, and on June 25, 2009, she died of suicide by hanging herself from a tree. Her suicide was followed by severe depression caused by her split with Marianne Dupon.

84. Yang Yang

Yang Yang was a Chinese operatic tenor and music professor at the Capital Normal University in Beijing. His music made him win top prizes at four Italian opera festivals, such as Pesaro Festival. In 2012, he was named one of China’s top ten tenors by China Central Television. Yang was suffering from depression which led to his suicide by jumping on June 10, 2019.

85. Stephen Wooldridge

Stephen Wooldridge was an Australian with a successful cycling career. As a racing cyclist, he was an Olympic and four-time world champion on the track. In 2005, he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to sport as a gold medalist at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He was inducted into the NSW Hall of Championships in 2015. On August 14, 2017, Wooldridge committed suicide.

86. Tobi Wong

Tobi Wong was a Canadian designer and artist who used the term “paraconceptual” to describe his art. His work was heavily influenced by subversive art movements such as Fluxus and Dada and has received numerous cease and desist orders. He also became known for appropriating work by others. On May 30, 2010, he died by suicide, and it was discovered he had a long history of parasomnia or sleep disorders.

87. Bob Welch

Bob Welch was an American musician member of Fleetwood Mac rock band from 1971 to 1974. In the late 1970s, he had a successful solo career with single hits like Hypnotized, Ebony Eyes, and his signature song, Sentimental Lady. Welch died by suicide on June 7, 2012, shooting himself in his Nashville home. He left a nine-page suicide note and a love letter for his wife.

88. Gary Webb

Gary began his career working for a newspaper in Kentucky and Ohio to become a leading American investigative journalist. He is best known for his Dark Alliance series, which appeared in The Mercury News in 1996. Webb built a strong reputation for investigative writing and was hired by the San Jose Mercury News. Subsequently, he contributed to the paper’s Pulitzer prize-winning coverage of the Loma Prieta earthquake. On December 10, 2004, he was found dead in his home with two self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.

89. Dan Vickerman

Vickerman was a professional rugby union player who played for the Wallabies, the national team of his adopted country of Australia. In 2008, he left his successful international rugby career to attend the University of Cambridge. He returned to Australia in 2011 and played for the Wallabies, including at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, before he retired from the game. On February 18, 2017, he died at his Sydney home, and the cause of death was confirmed as suicide.

90. Edwin Valero

Edwin Valero was a Venezuelan professional boxer who began his career in 2002. He was an undefeated former world champion in two weight classes, having held the World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight title from 2006 to 2008 and World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight title from 2009 to 2010. He was a southpaw known for his highly aggressive fighting style and exceptional punching power, and he remains the only champion in WBC history to win every fight in his career by knockout. Valero committed suicide in jail after being arrested on suspicion of killing his wife.

91. Dick Trickle

Born as Richard Leroy Trickle, he was an American race car driver. Trickle raced for decades around the short tracks of Wisconsin, winning many championships along the way. He competed in the American Speed Association (ASA), National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR), ARTGO, All Pro, United States Auto Club (USAC), International Motor Contest Association (IMCA), and Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). In May 2013, Trickle died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

92. Ivo-Valentino Tomas

Tomas was a Croatian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He came under media attention when he was called to the German U-16 national team in 2009. Since beginning his football career in 1999, he has played for many teams achieving great success. On December 31, 2019, the media and his former club HNK Hajduk Split announced the death of Tomas by suicide.

Brody Stevens was his professional name, his real name being Steven James Brody. He was an American stand-up comedian and actor. Stevens starred in the Comedy Central reality series Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! and other comedy shows, as well as roles in films such as The Hangover (2009) and Due Date (2010). On February 22, 2019, he was found dead in his home in Los Angeles. His death was later determined as suicide. 

94. Ellie Soutter

Ellie Soutter was a British snowboarder who learned to snowboard at 10, began as a member of the inaugural British Europa Cup snowboard cross programme, and specialized in freeride, snowboard cross events, and freestyle. In 2016, she started competing in international events. Subsequently, she won a bronze medal representing Great Britain at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in the snowboard cross. Soutter had an issue of mental health issues; on July 25, 2018, she died by suicide near her home on her 18th birthday.

95. Thomas Schafer

Thomas Schafer was a German Lawyer and politician for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). During the financial crisis of 2007-2008, he coordinated state efforts to rescue Opel (Opel Automobile GmbH). Between 2010 and 2020, he was the Minister of Finance of Hesse. In March 2020, he was found dead next to the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line near Hochheim am Main. Police speculated that he had killed himself.

96. Carl Sargeant

Carl Sargeant was a Welsh politician who was the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children in the Welsh Government. He started his political career as an elected Connah’s Quay town council member. Carl’s political views developed following, contributing to the area’s high local unemployment rates. He became an active campaigner for social justice and against domestic violence, identifying as a feminist. Unfortunately, he was removed from cabinet position and suspended from Welsh Labour following allegations. On November 7, 2017, he was found dead at his home in Connah’s Quay, and on July 11, 2019, it was concluded he had committed murder.

97. Rashaan Salaam

Rashaan Salaam was an American college and professional footballer who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons during the 1990s. Salaam played college football for the University of Colorado; in 1994, he won Heisman Trophy. He was then picked by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft and played professionally for the Bears and Cleveland Browns in the NFL. He was found dead in December 2016 in a park in Boulder, Colorado he died from suicide by a gunshot wound to the head.

98. Sushant Singh Rajput

Rajput was an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema (Bollywood). He starred in several commercially successful Hindi films, such as Kedarnath (2018) and Chhichhore (2019). For his contribution to the film industry, he received a Screen Award and appeared on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list twice since 2017. Rajput showed signs of clinical depression, suffered from bipolar disorder on June 14, 2020, and was found dead in his home in Bandra, Mumbai. He died from suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan.

99. Jason Raize

Jason Raize was an American singer and actor. He was best known for his roles as the adult Simba in the Broadway stage musical version of The Lion King and the voice of Denahi in the animated Disney film Brother Bear. Raize was found dead on February 7, 2004; he had hanged himself in a shed on the property.

100. Kelly Fraser

Kelly Fraser was a Canadian Inuk pop singer and songwriter. Her first album was released in June 2014, and her second album, Sedna, received a Juno Award nomination for Indigenous Music Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2018. On December 24, 2019, Fraser died at her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by suicide.
